Traditional Job: Pros and Cons

The traditional job we’re talking about is anything involving working for someone else outside your home. This is still the most common way to earn a living, even with the internet revolution.

Pros:

•   Many companies offer health insurance, retirement planning, and other perks as part of your benefits package;
•   You know what you are doing and what to expect each day;
•   Your pay is paid out by the company and usually, unless you work on commission, has no relation to your performance.

Cons:

•   Your benefits can shrink or disappear without warning if the company gets into financial trouble;
•   The monotony of the job can be a real problem for self-starters or creative types;
•   Your salary is determined by the company and will not change unless you are given a raise at an annual review. You won’t earn more for doing high quality work.

Work from Home: Pros and Cons

A work from home opportunity is any job that you are able to do from home and is usually independent of another company. You can be an entrepreneur starting your own company or work as a direct sales rep for a parent company. This is a growing field due to the internet revolution.

Pros:

•   The working hours are flexible and set around your personal schedule;
•   The harder you work, the better the payoff you see;
•   You can decide what you will do and how you will approach each job in a new manner every day.

Cons:

•   This career is better for people who are self-motivated and don’t require a lot of hand-holding or direction from others;
•   Some people prefer the monotony of a traditional job rather than the newness of a work from home job;
•   This career requires tenacity and commitment.

Which one is best for you?

A lot of your decision will be based on your personal situation: how flexible you need your schedule to be, how many hours you need to work per week, and so forth. The rest of your decision will be based largely on your own personality. Are you a real go-getter? Do you like the idea of being your own boss? If so, then a work from home job will likely suit your personality better than a traditional career.
